As the Rangers cross country team traveled to Riverside park for the annual Ottawa Hills Fall Invite, they looked to keep up their momentum from their previous meet and they did just that. The Rangers took 2nd place as a team on the girls side while the guys took 3rd place.
“Everyone ran really well,” junior Sam Yeager said. “Everyone put all of their efforts in and the results showed as we all ran fast times.”
The guys took off first and didn’t have some of the individual results they wanted, but still finished great as a team. The top finisher for the Rangers was junior Sam Yeager. He finished in 13th place with a time of 16 minutes and 42 seconds. Close behind him was sophomore Ethan Krampe and senior Kyle James-Heer. They both finished in the top 20 with Sam and looked amazing this past weekend despite the setback.
The girls took off last and carried their momentum from their previous meet as they finished 2nd as a team and had 3 top 10 finishers again. The top finisher for the lady Rangers was freshman Clara James-Heer. She finished in 1st place with a time of 18 minutes and 31 seconds. Close behind her was senior Whitney Currie. She finished in a season-high 4th place with a time of 18 minutes and 57 seconds. About a minute off of Whitney’s pace was freshman Peyton Ludwig. She finished in 7th place with a time of 19 minutes and 40 seconds. Overall, the Lady Rangers were dominant this past week, and are looking to continue their momentum into this week.
The Rangers look to keep their momentum going as they near the end of their season. They will meet up with their fellow OK White opponents at the OK White championship this Wednesday, October 14th at Byron Center’s west middle school.
