Freshman Kendall Gleason and senior Bryce Hysong led the way for the JV cross country team last night in a not-so-ideal performance. The Rangers took 3rd place out of 3 teams on the boys side and 2nd of 2 teams on the girls side.
“I thought the guys did really well even though our performance wasn’t what we were hoping it to be,” senior David Whittaker said. “Everyone had an almost personal record or set one.”
The boys took off first and they had a very strong start. The top boys finisher was Bryce who finished in 7th with a time of 19 minutes and 52 seconds. The next couple of finishers for the Rangers were sophomores Nick Francisco and Ian Mahoney who both finished in the top 20 just under 21 minutes each. Overall, the guys finished 3rd after a rocky finish.
The girls took off next, and just like the guys did, the lady Rangers started off very strong but had a rocky finish. The top finisher for the girls as Kendall who finished in 11th place with a time of 24 minutes and 50 seconds. The next couple of finishers for the lady Rangers were freshmen Grace Barber and Millie Alt. This performance led to a 2nd place finish for the lady Rangers in a disappointing day for all teams.
The JV cross country team’s season is over, but the varsity teams will be running on Saturday, October 17th at the Kent County meet at the Gainey Athletic Complex.
