I am Greta gave me a new perspective on the future
I am Greta gave me a new perspective on our future.
I’m not the type of person to go and watch a documentary on our planet and environment. But, when I was browsing on Hulu, I am Greta made me stop and go check it out.
The documentary is about the journey of Greta Thunberg, a 15-year-old girl from Sweden who is very passionate about the future of our environment. She is one of the youngest environmental activists in the world, and she wishes to make a change in the environment for the future.
I was very surprised that I enjoyed I am Greta, and now I feel very informed about our environment. Greta’s words inspired me to be more aware of what’s going on with our planet and to start protecting our environment before it gets destroyed.
At only 15, she goes out to conventions and meetings with other activists and world leaders. Greta goes through the processes of being a child activist, along with the pros and cons that come with it.
Her words have affected many children throughout the world. In the documentary, there are clips of hundreds of children and adults protesting in the streets, demanding world leaders to take action—to go out and protect our planet because of what Greta has preached about.
I am Greta also shows the dark side of being an activist: the pressure of being bashed over and over again by major world leaders, national news channels, and so much more. Nonetheless, she keeps those negative words out of her head and keeps protesting and standing up for our future.
One of my favorite moments was when Greta goes on a boat all the way from Europe to New York with her dad. Since she’s an environmentalist, she is against the travel of planes, so she goes out of her way to sail across the Atlantic Ocean. You can see the struggle that she goes through and how serious she is about our planet.
The directing was up to my expectations and was planned very carefully. Throughout I am Greta, the director Nathan Grossman documented her journey very well. The camera quality was outstanding, and it led the scenes to take on a more dramatic tone. It seemed very natural–almost like you couldn’t tell that it was being filmed.
The new generation of people will look up to Greta, and take her words and put them into action. There is still hope for our earth due to educated people like her.
This is such an impactful documentary, and more people should watch it because they’ll have a new perspective on what is actually happening in the world and what’s happening in our environment.
