NBA Top 5: this season’s best teams so far
1. The Champions
So far in the season, the Los Angeles Lakers are once again dominating the season starting their season number 1 in the Western Conference. They have been crushing most of the teams they have played and are starting the season 10-3. Their three losses are against three good teams in the Spurs, Trail Blazers, and Clippers. The Lakers did beat the Spurs twice already but they got their revenge in their most recent match-up. The Lakers are also 2-1 against the Clippers with their most present match-up lost against them. With LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and a lot of really good role players around them, they are definitely the hardest team to beat in the NBA. With their addition of Montrezl Harrell, Dennis Schroder, and Marc Gasol they can definitely win their second straight championship this season.
2. East Leaders
Celtics are leading East so far with a record of 9-3. They have many options offensively leading with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, two very destructive players. The Celtics have been stomping over teams, but have also struggled a lot in their three losses and a few wins. Against a sucky Pistons team, they lost by 3 and only beat them by 2 another time. Although Kemba Walker is hurt, they should still be beating the Pistons. When beating some good teams like the Bucks, it definitely proves they are a championship-caliber team. Celtics have very good chemistry and not many issues. They can definitely be the best team in the league when Kemba Walker isn’t injured anymore. I am looking forwards to seeing them win the Eastern Conference.
3. Last Year’s Favorites
This season the Bucks have shown that they can repeat what they did last year but even better. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kris Middleton have been doing the usual dominating offensively. They are a top 5 duo in the league in my opinion. This year they did get an addition of Jrue Holiday who is performing really well as their best role player. He is averaging 15.2 points per game. The Bucks have had some crazy wins this year, with one coming against the Miami Heat. They ran all over them that game winning 144-97, even though Giannis didn’t do well ending up with only 9 points that game. It didn’t matter whatsoever. The Heat lost all their momentum and there was no coming back from it.
4. Los Angeles’ second team
The Clippers are doing really good this season showing that they could win some playoff games and even the championship. Paul George has shown the league what he really is. After having the worst post-season of his career, he has bounced back better than anyone could. Kawhi Leonard has also been playing good averaging 24.3 points per game. He is also leading the team in assists and in steals. Kawhi has always been a dominate defender, helping the team lock other teams up. The Clippers most recent win was against the Pacers. They demolished them, winning by 33 points. The Pacers are a really good team this year too so this win means a lot for the Clippers. They have really shown that they could be Los Angeles’ top team this season.
5. God Squad
The Nets are going to be one of the hardest teams to beat from now on. They might not have a top record right now but they just had a three way trade for James Harden. Although I don’t believe this trade was good for the long term I think for this season they are going to be really strong. They have the two best scorers in the NBA; with Kevin Durant and James Harden, they can score at will. Even with those two players, they have one of the top point guards in the league in Kyrie Irving. The only down side to those three players is that Kyrie Irving is a little bit of an issue off the court, as he has been seen missing numerous games. The Nets are on a winning streak of 4 games and winning against the Bucks. In that game, Harden and Kevin Durant both had a 30 point game combining for 64 points. They are going to be one of the biggest problems for teams in the Eastern Conference.
