Without her, I’d be dust

Sofia Hargis-Acevedo

A collage of the people whom I love dearly.

She greets me each morning as I slowly slide out of my warm bed.

She stays with me each night as my consciousness slips out of my reach.

She tightly wraps her arms around me, comforting me when nothing else seems to.

Her hues of warm vanilla and lavender encircle me;

her scent comforts me.

Her presence enlightens me,

shows me the beauty in

everything.

The sweet fragrance of

lilies.

The calming pitter patter of

rain.

If she ever slipped away into the abyss, I would have no

purpose.

She gives me

reason.

Without her, I am

numb–

happiness falls from my grasp.

The waves of jealousy die down like

a calm river.

Anger has no

meaning.

Tears would never find their way to my

face.

Without love

I simply exist.
