These women are some of the biggest names in the modeling industry today
There’s a lot of controversies orbiting the modeling world, and while most opinions have unsupported claims, it’s easy to understand where people could get this career twisted into something it isn’t.
But, modeling not only celebrates the multitude of shapes, sizes, and colors that we all come in, it also showcases designers’ art. Modeling can teach anyone how to be confident in themselves, have good posture, and other skills that will help you to hold yourself tall in society.
Some of the most respected men and women in history either started off modeling or, throughout their expansive careers, found their way in front of a camera. While anyone with a platform should expect backlash, models receive so much unwarranted hate for doing what they love.
But one of the most respected and beautiful women of our time is American actress Megan Fox. She’s well known for her acting in movies like Jennifer’s Body, dating American rapper Colson Baker—Machine Gun Kelly—and appearing in magazines like Rolling Stone. With 17.4 million followers on Instagram, Fox represents the modeling community perfectly.
A lot of people recognize her for her astonishing, well-fitting outfits for a plethora of events. She wore, as described by Hindustan Times, “a sheer number with a bedazzling thong underneath, a pair of Jimmy Choo pumps, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels” for MTV’s VMAs, and the look was nothing short of breathtaking. That night, her post to Instagram of her and American media personality, Kourtney Kardashian, went viral for their pure joy across their faces and astonishing figure highlighted by such beautiful pieces.
Instagram has been the perfect platform for people to find their voices and spread positivity through posting what they love and someone who does that on a daily basis is English singer, songwriter, and model Dua Lipa. Best known for her most recent hits such as “Levitating” or “One Kiss,” Lipa has grown a massive following of 68 million monthly listeners on Spotify and 74 million followers on Instagram.
As well as her professional work, Lipa is easily recognized through her daily posts, which update her fans about her extremely eventful life. Whether it be sharing about her newborn niece, what she’s been eating lately, or her latest fashion show, Lipa always makes sure to keep everyone in the loop.
Taking on another adaptation in her life, Lipa has begun to dabble in runway shows for name brands, and her newest was her appearance for Versace’s Spring 2022 collection. As described by Vogue, “[Lipa was] dressed in a sexy power suit with strategic cutouts and the brand’s iconic safety pins.” Lipa started off the show with one of the most professional opening looks we’ve ever seen from this designer, and everyone loved it. “Lipa fit right in alongside Versace regulars,” Vogue later stated.
Someone who’s also somewhat recently begun on the climax of her modeling journey is nineteen-year-old Indigenous model Quannah Chasinghorse. She was born on Native American territory—Navajo Nation—in Tuba City, Arizona, and can trace her roots back to the First Nations people of Canada and Alaska.
At her first Met Gala, Chasinghorse harnessed the empowerment and “beauty of native indigenity,” she had told Vogue earlier this September. The article continued to describe how designer Peter Dundas dressed her for the event: “a gold lamé dress with chain accents from the recently debuted Dundas x Revolve American Dream collection. The billowing cape also gave the illusion that the model had wings.” Representing over a hundred years of history is the greatest achievement that anyone could hold, and the fact that a young woman did so is inspiring to others.
Young women empower others, raising awareness, highlighting pieces of work, and improving themselves through their expansive careers. Overall, modeling can be a strong, positive influence on everyone’s lives.
