2017 Student Council Q&A – Emily Briggs

Name: Emily Briggs

Grade: Sophomore

1.) Why did you decide to run for Trustee?

“I decided to run [for trustee] again because last year was actually really fun. I enjoy being involved in organizing student activities and planning events. I like to think I contributed to making this past year fun for our class, and I know that I will be able to do an even better job with another year under my belt.”

2.) What do you hope to accomplish if elected?

“I would push for better communication between the staff and the students. I hear my peer complain or give suggestions or mention problems they have with the system quite often, and I think that if there was a better line of communication between the administration and classes, some of those problems could be fixed.”

3.) What extra-curricular activities are you involved in?

“I am a member of the crew team, and I was on student council this past year.”

4.) What traits do you think successful leaders posses?

“I think successful leaders are motivated, willing to communicate and reach out, and have an understanding of the capabilities of their peers. A positive attitude goes a long way too!”

5.) Anything you’d like to say to potential voters?

I’d like them to know that if elected, I’d love to hear any potential ideas or suggestions for our junior year, no matter how large or small a request.”
