Rangers overcome the heat and beat Northview 2-0
On Thursday, September 22nd the Rangers took on conference opponent the Northview Wildcats. In this very hot game, the Rangers dominated the possession once again. They had several shots but none of them were able to make it on target. Midway through the first half Eric Conerty was given a perfect pass right in front of the goal, turned and fired a shot into the back of the net to give the Rangers 1-0 lead.
Northview’s offense had several chances to score but Senior goalkeeper Jared Ireland was on top of every ball that came his way. Later in the first half, Alec Norris was able to free himself up from the left side of the field and unleashed an absolute missile bar down for a goal. The Rangers lead 2-0 going into the half, but due to heat lightning, the game would turn out to be over at the half. A big part of the Rangers defense was senior MJ Francisco who had a phenomenal night on defense.
“I enjoyed playing last night and wish we could’ve gotten the second half in,” MJ said. “Come game time no one was really thinking about the weather, we were just focused on doing our job and playing. We played a pretty decent conference opponent and ended up winning 2-0. It is obvious to tell that all of us are really starting to bond and get a feel for each other which is good to see late in the season as we advance towards the playoffs.”
The Rangers are looking better and better each game and are finding their groove at the best possible time, as playoffs are right around the corner. Next up for the Rangers is Grand Haven on September 23rd. This will be an instant classic as Grand Haven is coming into this game with a very solid record of 7-2-2.
