The first College Football Playoff Rankings of the year came out this Tuesday, October 31st and to many people have had their opinions on it so far. The top 4 teams that would be in the playoff as of this week would’ve been:

• Georgia

• Alabama

• Notre Dame
• Clemson

First 2 out Oklahoma and Ohio State

Here are our opinions on who should’ve been in it and our initial thoughts.

First 2 out Ohio State and Clemson

I believe the committee got 3 out of the 4 teams correct but their order was a little off. Alabama started the year off at #1 and has consistently won each week so there is no reason Georgia should pass them to #1. Therefore I have Georgia at 2. Notre Dame I have at 3 because of the way they have been playing lately and because of the their wins over MSU and USC and their only loss coming to the team ahead of them, Georgia. Coming in at #4 is my one change from the committee, I think Oklahoma should 100% be in the top 4 due to their statement win over the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus. They are also undefeated and after OSU beat Penn State, this win for Oklahoma keeps looking better and better.

I believe Georgia has earned the right to surpass Alabama in the first rankings because of their schedule. Their schedule is much more impressive than Alabama’s. Alabama is in a good spot at the number 2 spot. Notre Dame has the number 3 spot locked up. They may have trouble if they lose in the upcoming weeks because they are not in a conference. And not being in a conference means no championship game like the rest of the spread. The committee made a mistake when they put Clemson at number 4. Clemson has lost to Syracuse who is much less impressive than Ohio State’s loss to Oklahoma. Ohio State should be 4, Oklahoma should be 5, and Clemson should be 6.

First 2 out Notre Dame and Clemson

I don’t quite agree with the committee’s decision. I think 2 out of the 4 teams can stay put, and the other two are out. Georgia and Alabama at #1 and #2 is correct, but Notre Dame and Clemson should be out. Notre Dame has not looked impressive and Clemson had a bad loss to Syracuse. At #3 should be Oklahoma and #4 should be Ohio State. Ohio State just came off of a comeback win over Penn State, and has some of the best skill position players in the country. With simply the eye test, Ohio State belongs in the playoff. Oklahoma behind Baker Mayfield falls at #3 because they beat Ohio State. It will be very close in the coming weeks and there are dark horses like Penn State that could sneak their way in.

These are 4 very strong teams who I believe all deserve a spot in the college football playoff. Georgia has had a perfect season and have had a much tough road to undefeated unlike Alabama who has played cupcake teams. Alabama obviously deserves to be in being undefeated in the regular season with huge wins and coming into the season ranked 1. Notre Dame has secured a spot in my eyes with their schedule and their only loss is to Georgia early on in the season. They have a couple tough games coming up against Miami and Stanford but if they win those they deserve a spot. The last team Ohio State, these Buckeyes have put together a significant run after losing an early game to the Sooners. After that loss they have bounced back and have played incredible football. I believe these teams will stay the same for the most part until the playoff.
