Hit or miss sports movies
42 is the true story of how the first African American baseball player came into the major leagues. Mostly everyone in the sports industry knows about Jackie Robinson, but many don’t know all of the hardships he faced when earning a spot on the Brooklyn Dodgers team. The movie depicts the trauma and struggles he faced very vividly. Jackie, despite going through the most unthinkable events, kept his head high.
I would give 42 a ten out of ten. I’d give it a ten because the movie shows how Jackie set a great example for younger kids. He didn’t fight back against those tormenting him, but he also never surrendered to the pain he went through. Throughout the whole movie, I noticed that slowly his team would appreciate his talent and stand up for him. It was phenomenal to watch how Jackie’s teammates eventually backed him up.
This is a must-see for any struggling athlete. It really shows the highs and lows of playing a sport. If you’re struggling with anything in sports – it could be harsh criticism or an injury – you should definitely watch 42. It’ll show you that if you keep fighting and holding on, as well as working hard to achieve your goals, you will come out above it all.
