Girls freshman basketball is defeated by Grandville 43-22 in their season opener
Friday night in their first game of the season, the girls freshman basketball team would battle against the Bulldogs of Grandville at home. Unfortunately for the Rangers, numerous turnovers would give the Bulldogs multiple scoring opportunities, leading to a 43-22 victory for the away team.
Throughout the first quarter, the score was back and forth. The Rangers managed to pull ahead to gain a three point lead at the end of the first with a score of 8-5. Despite the small cushion from the first quarter, the Rangers were not able to keep their lead in the second. They went into the locker room at half down by two, 14-12.
The Bulldogs came into the second half with victory on their minds. They outscored the Rangers 15-6 to drastically increase the lead to 29-18. The fourth and final quarter went no better for FHC as the game started to get away from them. As the game came to a close, the Rangers would be defeated 43-22. Despite the defeat, the players are still excited for the rest of the season and are hoping to learn and grow from the loss.
