Girls freshman basketball defeats wayland in the Holiday Tournament 27-22
Despite having four girls gone Tuesday night, girls freshman basketball was able to defeat the Wayland Wildcats in a close game 27-22. Freshmen Samantha Jerow and Ella Sloat led the team in scoring with seven and twelve points respectively.
Right from the tip, the two teams were closely matched; the first quarter ended with the Rangers down by one 7-6. The Rangers were able to score nine to Wayland’s eight in the second to tie it up 15-15 at the half.
Wayland’s only points in the third came from free throws. The Rangers were able to take their first lead of the game 21-17. The team took the game in the fourth and secured the win 27-22.
This victory gives the Rangers their second win of the season to put them 2-3 in non-conference play. Their next game will be today to finish off their Holiday Tournament.
