Girls freshman basketball loses to Greenville 35-15
A great deal of turnovers Thursday night against the Greenville Yellow Jackets would lead to a 35-15 loss for the girls freshmen basketball team. Freshman Lauren Bont led the Rangers with six points for the night.
The Rangers were unable to score any points in the first quarter. This allowed the Yellow Jackets to get up to a 6-0 lead after the first eight minutes. Lauren scored two buckets in the second, combined with a pair of free throws from freshman Maggie Jenkins for a total of six Rangers points to 15 for the Yellow Jackets going into the half. The second half of the game went no better for the team, as turnovers continued to pile up. The girls earned four in the third to Greenville’s 12, the score being 27-10 at the end of three. The Rangers scored five more before the final eight minutes were up, but the game ended 35-15 with victory in the hands of the Yellow Jackets.
The team plays its next game this coming Tuesday against Cedar Springs in the third consecutive away game.
