Boys varsity ski places 6th at Grand Slalom races on Tuesday
The varsity boys ski team had a rough start to the meet on Tuesday, Jan. 9. However, after their first run on the slopes, things started to turn around for Rangers once senior Ben Finkelstein started his runs. The Rangers were able to come back and place sixth out the ten teams at the meet.
Ben secured third place in the men’s Grand Slalom (GS), with a time of 25.81 seconds in his first race and 26.21 seconds in his second race. Junior Noah Stout also placed with an overall time of 28.44 seconds for his first race and 28.88 in his second race to secure 25th place.
Junior Nathan Jenkins was able to earn 40th place in the GS races with a time of 30.88 seconds in his initial race and then finished off with a time of 32.16 seconds. Close behind, freshman Luke Matelic took over 43rd place in his first high school race. Luke’s first round had a time of 33.69 seconds, and he managed to beat that score by 0.25 seconds in his second round.
The varsity boys ski team races again on Saturday, Jan. 13 at Norm’s GS Championship.
