Boys varsity ski team places 8th in GS and 7th in SL races

Last night the boys varsity ski team struggled to place at their Slalom and Giant Slalom races. Coming off of a sixth-place finish at their previous meet last Tuesday, the boys were hoping for a win but ended up placing eighth in the GS as a team and seventh in the SL as a team.

Leading the Rangers was senior Ben Finkelstein, who was able to capture second place in the GS races. Ben’s first run had a time of 28.3 seconds and his second run was .02 seconds faster, putting him at 28.28 seconds. Ben also placed second in the SL races, with a first run of 32.65 seconds and a second run of 32.76 seconds.

The Rangers also had five people place in the top 50 racers for the GS. Senior Jordan Ysseldyke placed 32nd and placing 39th was junior Noah Stout. Another junior, Nathan Jenkins, received 41st place and sophomore Sam Werkema got 46th. Freshman Luke Matelic followed close behind to secure 49th place.

The boys varsity ski team races again on Tuesday, January 23rd at Cannonsburg at 4:00 p.m.
