Girls JV basketball grabs big conference win against Lowell

Bouncing back from a tough loss on Tuesday, the girls JV basketball team revamped its energy to come out and defeat Lowell 32-22 last night. The Rangers played with aggressive defense that helped to create numerous turnovers throughout the entire game. With this aggressive defense, the Rangers only allowed 6 points from Lowell the entire second half.

Early in the game, the Rangers created havoc on the court with their defensive press. FHC built an early 8-2 lead against Lowell. Battling back, Lowell hit two long jumpers to end the first period 8-7. All throughout the second quarter, both teams fought with aggressive pressure to end the first half tied 16-16. Coming out of the locker room to start the third quarter, FHC amped up its intensity. The Rangers shut down and frustrated Lowell’s offense. In the fourth quarter, FHC was able to control its offense and take advantage of the faults in Lowell’s man defense.

Sophomore Alex Vaughn-Earvin and freshman Brittney Probst stood out on defense and created chaos and turnovers for Lowell. Standing out on offense for the Rangers was sophomore Bryn Yoder with 10 points.

The next conference matchup for the Rangers is Tuesday, January 23rd against Ottawa Hills. The Rangers are now 2-2 in the OK White Conference and 5-5 on the overall season.
