Girls freshman basketball is defeated by Northern in sixth consecutive loss
Girls freshman basketball was defeated by Northern this Thursday night at Northern’s home court 40-16. Freshmen Ella Sloat, Morghan Tilton, and Lauren Bont were the leading scorers for the Rangers with 4 points each.
Freshman Madeline Knoor earned the first and only points for the Rangers in the first quarter. Northern was able to score 8 in the first to give themselves an 8-2 lead after the quarter. Both Ella and Morghan scored their first points of the night to give the Rangers 3 in the second quarter for a total of 5 going into the half. The Huskies continued to outscore FHC and led 20-5 going into the locker rooms.
Ella then knocked down 1 of 2 free throws for another point, along with 2 from Lauren for 3 Ranger points. Northern scored 7 points to put themselves up 27-8 after three quarters. The Rangers were able to double their score in the fourth to end the night with 16 total points to the Huskies’ 40. The next game for the Rangers will be against non-conference opponent Wyoming this coming Tuesday, as they go for their first win in six games.
