Boys varsity ski has solid performance at the Caberfae races
The varsity boys ski team had a good day on the slopes this past Friday at the Caberfae races in Cadillac. After a rough couple of weeks, the boys were able to secure second place in the SL as a team and fourth place in the GS as a team.
Senior Ben Finkelstein had an amazing weekend, placing second in both the GS and the SL races. Ben had a time of 22.77 seconds to start off the SL and an ending run of 21.68 seconds. In the GS, the senior captain had a beginning run of 32.04 seconds and a final run of 31.29 seconds.
The boys also had three other members place in the top twenty: junior Nathan Jenkins, sophomore Sam Werkema, and senior Jordan Ysseldyke. Sam placed 20th in the SL and 19th in the GS, while Nathan finished 16th in the SL. Along with them, Jordan placed 14th in the SL and then placed 17th in the GS.
The boys will race again on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Cannonsburg.
