Girls freshman basketball loses to EGR 43-24
This Thursday girls freshman basketball was defeated by non-conference opponent East Grand Rapids 43-24. This was the team’s seventh consecutive loss to put them at 2-10 on the season. FHC was led by freshmen Audrey Sidebotham and Ella Sloat once again with six points each on the night.
One player from EGR was able to score 10 points single-handedly in the first quarter, in addition to 2 from a teammate. Audrey and Chloe Teliczan scored the only points for the Rangers in the first with 4 each. This left FHC trailing 12-8 after the first. The Rangers scored 3 buckets in the second, compared to 6 scored by the Pioneers. The Rangers went into the locker room at the half with a 25-14 deficit to recover from in the second half.
Freshman Lauren Bont put her first points on the board in the third quarter alongside Ella’s first two. Despite a better quarter defensively from the Rangers, they were still down 32-18. After 8 more minutes of play, the Pioneers secured the 43-24 victory.
