Boys swim and dive places first at 9/10 Invitational
This past Saturday, the boys swim and dive team attended the 9/10 Invitational meet at Grandville High School, specifically for freshmen and sophomores to compete in. Six teams participated in this invitational; East Kentwood placed sixth, Jenison placed fifth, Rockford came in fourth missing third place to Holland West Ottawa by one point. Grandville High took second place, leaving the first place spot to FHC with a strong score of 472 points.
Freshman Avery LeTourneau proved to be a team leader in this meet by being the top scorer for FHC. Avery took first in the 200-yard Freestyle and second in the 100-yard Freestyle. Sophomore C.J. Hier also placed top five in four of his events. These results consisted of placing second in the 200-yard Medley, coming in fourth in the 100-yard Freestyle, second in the 100-yard Breaststroke, and to round it all out first place in the 400-yard Freestyle relay. Freshman Josh Stevenson placed third in his 100-yard Backstroke event and sophomore Kyle Carter placed second in the 200-yard Medley Relay. Freshman Sam Musgraves also gave FHC a top-five finish for diving by placing fifth.
This meet allowed select freshmen and sophomores to take center stage and prove themselves. Hopefully, those who proved themselves in this meet can continue their success into FHC’s upcoming meet. The team as a whole hopes to keep up this hot streak as it heads into competition against East Grand Rapids this upcoming Tuesday. EGR is a close rival of FHC, as these two have gone head-to-head the past few years. With just two more meets before the conference meet, FHC looks ready to make a run at the championship.
