With such a great record, the Rangers won their overall conference. In the first half, both teams came out fast. The game started out back and forth through the two first quarters. Both teams were hitting wide-range, tough shots that created the more competitive mindset for all of them. Freshman Dallas Hopson gave the team a huge lift when he entered the game and scored several times. By his side, freshman Jeremy James played solid during the first half as well on defense and offense. The Rangers were down going into the second quarter 16-13 but made a huge comeback to go into the half leading 29-27.
In the second half, the energy stayed consistent throughout the last two quarters of the game. The Rangers started guarding FHN’s leading scorer tightly, which helped them to earn more possessions. The Rangers moved the ball quickly up the court this way, allowing for them to score more points and gain a 38-31 lead going into the fourth quarter. On defense, the Rangers played really well down low and took care of the ball. The fourth quarter played out to a Ranger win, which the team was very excited about.
Freshman Cam David led the Rangers in points scoring 14, along with Dallas who had 10. With a huge conference win, the Rangers look ahead to Grand Haven on Tuesday.
