FHC varsity boys lacrosse defends undefeated record with win over Cranbrook
More stories from Ali Czarnecki
On Friday night, the varsity boys lacrosse team faced a tough opponent in Cranbrook. FHC ended up winning 15-11 with top scorer senior Bryce Clay having 5 goals. When the game got close, he made sure the Rangers were up. The Rangers were out a face-off guy, as junior Logan Wedder has a concussion. With this setback, Brett Koczenasz, Patrick English, and Jared Chamberlain took some face-offs for the team and ended up winning a lot.
Overall the Rangers struggled on defense. Cranbrook’s offense battled hard and was very strong, making it hard for Caleb Foster and Andy Trapp to get the ball up the field. Besides that, midi Kyle Basch did an excellent job at clearing the ball. Helping back on defense was a huge factor in this game. Midi Kade Shomin went down with an injury in the first quarter which also resulted in some hard losses at the defensive end. Junior Jack Nolan was key in this injury-riddled game, doing all he could to keep Cranbrook scoring to a minimum.
Other leading scorers were Tate Hallock with 3, Luke Majick with 2, Tobey Hendricks with 2, and Patrick English with 1.
The Rangers look ahead to Rockford on Thursday night at home and plan to defend their undefeated 10-0 record.
