Geoffrey Batterbee and Ryan Talbot will represent track and field at States
On Friday, the track and field team sent two competitors for each event to the regional meet. The final team results were low, with FHC mens varsity taking 7th place with a total of 35 points and girls varsity taking 16th place with 3 points.
On top of being conference champs for the OK white, the mens track and field team is sending two deserving members of the team to States. Junior Geoffrey Batterbee took second place in the 800-meter dash with a time of 1:57.66 and therefore is headed to States. Junior Ryan Talbot is also on his way to the State Meet because he took first place in the pole vault with a height of 14-06.00.
On the girls side, some notable runners were junior Susannah Bennett with a time of 12:19.45 and sophomore Nicole Marco with a time of 12:08.76 in the 3200-meter dash. Nicole placed 8th with Susannah coming right behind her in 9th. Sadly, none of the girls placed high enough to qualify for States.
States will take place Saturday, June 2 at East Kentwood High School. The two FHC juniors Geoffrey and Ryan will represent the school with high hopes of claiming some State titles.
