FHC girls varsity soccer dominates Cedar Springs 6-0
The Rangers girls varsity soccer team faced off last night in their final conference game against the Cedar Springs Redhawks. They were able to secure the win, and then secure the conference title. The Rangers final score was 6-0 dominating the entirety of the game.
The Rangers came out strong in the first half and scored right off the bat. Junior Ashley Ward was the first one to score for the Rangers and was quickly followed by senior Ali Czarnecki who scored another goal for the Rangers. Not much later, Ashley was able to put another one of her killer shots in the back of the net. Before the half came to a close, junior Kaitlyn Piontkowsky was able to finish one of her shots, giving the Rangers a 4-0 lead at the end of the first half. Starting off the second half strong, two more Rangers were able to score a goal: juniors Megan Piontkowsky and Ashley. Ashley ended the with a hat trick for the Rangers and helped contribute to their win tremendously.
Last night the Rangers had several stand-out players, one of them being senior Bree Probst. Bree had a concussion earlier in the season, and last night was her first game back. However, she did not let it show that she had missed the past games and was able to dominate in the backline. Other key contributors were senior Hannah Bowling and junior Grace Kline. Hannah and Grace stayed collected in the high pressure of the midfield and were able to distribute beautiful balls to their teammates throughout the game.
The Rangers will be playing their last season game on Thursday, May 24, at 7. They will take on the Portage Central High School Mustangs at home.
