Geoffrey Batterbee and Ryan Talbot take on track and field state meet

On Saturday, FHC sent two top performing athletes to the state track and field meet. The meet took place at East Kentwood high school, where schools from all over the state came together to compete for the top slot in each event. FHC didn’t end up with any state champions, but we did have some exceptional performances.

Junior Ryan Talbot placed high enough to compete in the state meet for the pole vault. His original score of 14-06.00 improved to his last height of 14-09.00 at states. This notable performance earned Ryan a fourth place finish to end the season.

Junior Geoffrey Batterbee went to states for the 800-meter dash. The original time he qualified with was 1:57.66. His last run at states earned him 17th place with a final time of 1:59.21.

Both of these juniors represented FHC very well and will come back next year determined to take home a state title. They both have had stand-out seasons and making it to states is one of the biggest highlights for the two juniors, as well as the rest of the track team.
