JV boys soccer defeats a strong Cedar Springs 4-0
The JV boys soccer team played a strong Cedar Springs team last night on the Red Hawks’ home field. The Rangers were looking to win this game in order to push their record to an even 3-3, and they succeeded by taking home the win 4-0.
The Rangers battled hard during the first half, but Cedar Springs kept scoring to a minimum, leaving the score 0-0 after the first 45 minutes. The game turned around when sophomore Mason Corcoran scored a banger, making the score 1-0 Rangers. Mason played a great game and helped the overall outcome of the match by leading the team to victory. The Ranger offense continued to step it up, using a shot of momentum to bury 3 more in the net, making the final score 4-0. Sophomore Matthew Mahoney was a key player for the team, leading in cleared balls and stopping the strong Hawks offense. The Red Hawks couldn’t quite find the back of the net, thanks to sophomore goalie Alex Dellinger and a strong Ranger defense.
The Rangers are now 3-0 in conference play and have a tough match against a very strong East Grand Rapids team at home on Monday. This is a big game and the Rangers are hoping to pull out the win against a big rival team.
