Varsity football preview: Ottawa Hills Bengals

The varsity football team enters week seven on the heels of two tough conference losses. FHC’s season has not gone as expected, and they now sit at 2-4 (1-2). The Rangers’ chances of making it to the playoffs this year are now slim but still possible with this four-loss record; however, with one more loss FHC would not make it into the postseason.

This Friday, the Rangers catch somewhat of a break in their tough schedule as they take on Ottawa Hills at home for Senior Night. The two schools have only played twice in history, with FHC walking away with blowout wins in both matchups. The Bengals sit at 1-5 (0-4) and are coming off of an 0-9 record and last-place conference finish in the 2017 season.

In their previous game, Ottawa Hills lost to Northview 42-12 with 155 yards of total offense, in addition to 3 turnovers and 4 penalties. In their last game, FHC had 216 total yards, 1 turnover and 2 penalties. On paper, the Rangers look to be a clear favorite for this matchup. However, the Bengals carry a roster full of impressive athletes and should not be overlooked in this contest. FHC aims to use this game as a chance to fine tune some of the little mistakes in preparation to face some more challenging opponents down the stretch.
