Cross Country finishes strong at Wednesday’s OK White Jamboree

Last night, the varsity cross country teams raced in the OK White Jamboree at Greenville. The racing conditions were hot and humid, and the stakes were high, but the teams still performed their best. The girls team took home third place out of the seven teams present, and the boys team took second place out of six teams.

Major contributors for the girls team were sophomore Whitney Currie, junior Nicole Marco, and senior Susannah Bennett. Whitney secured sixth place with a racing time of 20:05.27. Nicole was not far behind finished the race in 20:21.62, and Susannah’s final racing time was 20:38.07.

For the boys tea,  senior Geoffrey Batterbee finished first place out of all the runners. His racing time was 16:31.10 and he won by .28 seconds. Junior Gabriel Carlson finished fourth out of the 154 other racers; Gabe’s final race time was 16:53.63. Finally, freshman Sam Yeager was the last Ranger to finish in the top fifteen. Sam finished the race in 17:50.88 and secured himself a twelfth-place victory.

The varsity cross country teams’ next race will take place on Saturday, October 6, at the Portage Invitational.
