Boys JV soccer falls to Grand Haven 2-0

This Saturday, the boys JV soccer team faced off against a strong Grand Haven team. The Rangers fought hard but couldn’t quite pull out the win, losing 2-0.

The Buccaneers were the obvious, more dominant team in the match. Although FHC fought put up a fight, they weren’t able to come out on top do to an aggressive and tough opponent such as Grand Haven. In the first half, the Bucs were able to score the first goal, the result of a costly breakaway. The shot went just past the hands of sophomore goalkeeper Alex Dellinger. Alex played a great game, only allowing 2 total shots to fall in the net.

In the second half, the Ranger offensive pressure was constant, but they never seemed to find the goal. Sophomore Matthew Mahoney was a key component, as he led the team in shots and created multiple opportunities. Grand Haven had yet another breakaway later in the game, resulting in a penalty kick. The shot was taken and slipped passed the goalie, finalizing the score at 2-0.

The Rangers now sit at 8-7-1 overall and 8-2-1 in the conference. Their next game is Tuesday, October 9.
