Girls varsity golf earns seventh place in FHN Memorial Tournament

The girls varsity golf team finished up its regular season with a seventh-place finish at the FHN Ernie Popiel Memorial Tournament yesterday. With solid performances across the board on this 18-hole outing, FHC earned the top-ten finish with 383 total points.

Junior Ally Ringler led the team with an 84 overall, earning her eighth place among dozens of golfers. Senior Kayley Reynolds followed her by shooting a 97. Sophomore Maddie Knoor and junior Ivana Webb were close behind with a 100 and 102, respectively. Sophomore Taylor Baumgardner had the next lowest score with a 108, followed by senior Meg Meekhoff with a 110.

The golfers have now played three all-day tournaments in a short time span in preparation for the MHSAA Regionals on Wednesday. It has been FHC’s season-long goal to place high at this upcoming outing, in order to make it to States. An advantage for the Rangers will be that the tournament is held a Thornapple Pointe Golf Course, which is local and familiar to FHC.
