Cross country teams take home bronze at Kent Ottawa County Meet
The varsity cross country teams had an extremely successful weekend of running, as they attended the Kent Ottawa County Meet this past weekend. After not performing their best the last few meets, both teams were able to finish with very respectable times and take home third place in a competition with fourteen other teams.
Placing fourth out of 126 girls was junior Nicole Marco. Nicole was the first Ranger to cross the finish line for the girls with a final time of 20:27.8. Coming in shortly after Nicole was senior Courtney McAlindon in eleventh place with a time of 21:01.6, and following immediately after was fellow senior Susannah Bennett 21:02.0 in twelfth place. The last of the four Rangers to finish in the top fifteen for the girls was junior Chloe Zeien. Chloe finished in fifteenth place with a final race time of 21:10.7.
For the boys, senior Geoffrey Batterbee led the team in sixth place out of the 162 other runners. Geoffrey finished the race in 17:05.7, and his fellow teammate, junior Gabe Carlson, was soon behind him. Gabe finished the race in eighth place with a final time of 17:10.2, just under five seconds behind Geoffrey. Not even .4 seconds behind Gabe came freshman Sam Yeager, who finished in ninth place with a time of 17:10.6.
The Ranger cross country teams will race again this Wednesday at the OK White Conference meet.
