Varsity volleyball takes first at East Kentwood tournament
This Saturday, the varsity volleyball team dominated at the East Kentwood tournament. At the last tournament the team went 1-3, but this time the ladies were undefeated on the day and took home first place.
The majority of the matches were close; three of the four went to three games. The only team they defeated in two sets was Portage Northern, and both of those matches were very close as well. FHC beat them 25-23 in both sets. East Kentwood was the next opponent. FHC lost in the first set 25-16, but the Rangers scraped by in the last two sets to win 25-23 and 15-13. FHC then beat Traverse City West in the first set 25-16 but lost in set two 26-24. The Lady Rangers then took the opponent down 15-9 in the deciding set.
In the finals against Catholic Central, FHC won 25-19, then lost 25-19, then finally beat the Cougars 15-13 to take home the trophy.
This week, the team has two games. The first is against Ottawa Hills on Tuesday for Senior Night, then on Thursday night, they have a huge game against Lowell who is undefeated in conference play.
