Varsity ice hockey takes down Grandville 5-4
Saturday night the varsity ice hockey team took on Grandville High School on the road. Led by a few of the top scorers this season, the Rangers came away with the victory by a score of 5-4 in one of their closer scoring games this season.
Opening up the scoring for FHC was senior Nathan Hartline who has been solid offensively for the season all year. Following Nathan’s opening goal was junior Peter Bardelli scoring the second goal. After the Rangers had two goals on the board already, Nathan came in scoring the third goal for the Rangers. Closing out the scoring for FHC was senior Cole Ott and Peter finishing the total number of goals at 5 on the night.
On the defensive end of the game, freshman Jake Munger saw his first full game in the net allowing only four goals through him all night. Previously Jake had seen some playing time as a substitute at the goalie position but in this one, he saw his first full game as a varsity player.
With another win to its record, the varsity ice hockey team’s record now sits at 9-1-1 heading into the middle of the season. Their next game will take place against Lowell here at home on Dec. 28. After that game, the boys look ahead to a tough January schedule against crucial teams they need to earn those key season wins against.
