Boys swim and dive wins first conference meet against GR Christian 111-71
Last night, the boys swim and dive team faced off against Grand Rapids Christian in its first conference meet. FHC dominated the meet from the start and won 11 of the 12 events. The Rangers were also able to sweep first, second, and third in many events. The team was able to win 111-71.
Sophomore Avery LeTourneau was able to capture event titles in the 200-yard Freestyle with a time of 1:49.71 and 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 55.29. Junior CJ Hier captured the 100-yard Backstroke with a time of 57.83. Freshman Benji Zorn then won the 100-yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:06.61.
Along with many personal wins, FHC had many relay wins as well. The Rangers’ depth showed in the first half of the meet, as they took first and third in the 200-yard Medley Relay. The relay consisting of CJ, seniors Kaz Iwatsu and Henry Schutte, and junior Ethan Boersma placed first. The Rangers also took first, third, and fourth in both the 200-yard Freestyle and 200-yard Individual Medley. FHC also had first, second, and third place sweeps in the 50-yard Freestyle, 100-yard Butterfly, 500-yard Freestyle, and 1 Meter Diving. Senior Ryan Talbot captured top honors in diving.
This win puts the Rangers’ record at 1-0 in the OK White conference and 2-0 overall. FHC’s next meet is on Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Battle Creek Lakeview Quad.
