Varsity ice hockey tops Rockford 5-1
Last night, the boys varsity ice hockey team took on the Rockford Rams on FHC’s home ice at Patterson. With the classic Ranger offense putting on another show, the boys beat Rockford by a score of 5-1.
With a very early goal, senior Cole Ott put the Rangers up 1-0 in the first period. By the end of this first period, the Rangers were up 2-0 after another goal from junior Grant Cardin. With an already strong lead, the Rangers put in a few more goals to increase their lead. The third goal of the night came from a frequent scorer, sophomore Mason Kelly. The next goal came from sophomore Xavier Ott with just 1:26 left in the second period. Heading into the third period, the Rangers already had a strong 4-0 lead but saw the Rams put in one of their own to make it 4-1 during the third period. To round out the scoring for FHC, junior Cole Munger snuck one in, finishing the Rangers with 5 total goals on the night.
After another strong offensive showing from FHC, the Rangers’ record sits at an impressive 12-4-1 so far this season. The boys’ next game will take place tonight, Jan. 19, at home against East Kentwood. The boys took the win against EK 7-4 in their last matchup and will look to beat them for the second time this season.
