Forest Hills gymnastics falls to Rockford
The Forest Hills gymnastics team took on Rockford last night in a hard-fought meet but eventually fell to the Rams once again. Throughout the match, the team managed to score a total of 136.175 points, but it wasn’t enough to beat the powerhouse of a team that Rockford has.
Junior Olivia Jeong had a fantastic meet last night, and she was the only gymnast to compete in all four events from Forest Hills Central. In the vault event, Olivia scored an 8.35; next was the bars event, and her routine scored an 8.050. Her best event came in the beam event where she managed to score an amazing 8.875, and lastly, she scored an 8.775 in the floor event.
Last night was senior night, and one of the members on the team from FHC was recognized: senior Maheen Mulligan. Last night Maheen was only able to compete in one of the events, but she still scored an 8.750 in the beam event.
The Forest Hills gymnastics team also had a meet take place this past Saturday in Canton. While it was there the team had several top performers. Once again, Maheen had a fantastic beam routine and scored a very impressive 9.0, and her fellow teammate, junior Hannah Walters, scored a solid 8.7 in the floor event.
The team’s next meet is on Monday, Feb. 11 when FH will take on the Lowell Red Arrows.
