Boys swim and dive has a huge night and beats Spring Lake 102-78

On Thursday, the boys swim and dive team faced off against the Spring Lake Lakers. Coming off of a tough loss to East Grand Rapids, the Rangers wanted to bounce back and finish the conference strong. The Rangers were able to defeat the Lakers 102-78.

Senior Henry Schutte set two pool records: the 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 20.70 and 100-yard Freestyle with a time of 45.38. The 200-yard Relay also broke a pool record. The relay consists of seniors Adam Sands and Charlie Krug, sophomore Avery Letourneau, and Henry. They broke the record that had stood since 2001 with a time 1:27.64.  

Charlie also placed third in the 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 22.61 and third in the 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 54.78. Adam placed second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:08.85 and third in the Butterfly. Avery, who has continued to be one of the top performers on the team, placed second in the 500-yard Freestyle with a time of 5:09.92. Freshman Benji Zorn placed first in the Breaststroke with a time of 1:05.11.

The divers were led by senior Ryan Talbot with his personal-best score of 249.05 points. Freshman Cole Hysong placed second with his personal-best score as well with 233.80 points.

With this win, FH’s overall record is 7-3 and its OK White conference record is 5-1. With Thursday’s win, the team now has a chance to grab a share of the Conference Championship title in the upcoming Conference Meet on Friday and Saturday.
