Girls JV lacrosse extends record to 5-0 after big win over Grand Haven
Last night, the Forest Hills United girls JV lacrosse team took on the Grand Haven Buccaneers in its fifth game of the season. Coming off of a 4-0 weekend, the team was looking for another win headed into Spring Break. After a back-and-forth game, Forest Hills United pulled away with a big win 9-6.
Freshman Sofia Debano was a key player in last night’s game for Forest Hills, scoring 2 out of the team’s 9 goals. Sofia did a lot of work on all parts of the field, and her agility allowed her to get open for her teammates. Her first goal came from the eight-meter mark on a penalty, quickly followed by the second goal, which was off a pass from fellow freshman Kali Coppess.
Kali also played a huge role in the team’s victory, as she was able to put the ball in the back of the net once. She also helped out on the defensive end, as her impeccable defense stopped the Buccaneers from gaining the lead. Not only did she score a goal for the team, but she also had the assist on Sofia’s as well.
The girls JV lacrosse team now has a record of 5-0 and will play in its next game Wednesday, April 17; the girls will take on the East Grand Rapids Pioneers.
