JV softball comes out hot, mercies Greenville 14-4
Freshman Alyssa Wierenga was a spark at the plate for FHC, going 2-3 with 3 runs scored to propel the Rangers to a 14-4 mercy win in five innings over Greenville.
The bats were hot all game long, as sophomore Abby Davis and freshman Remmie Gavle also went 2-3 at the plate. Junior Katie Willemin and freshman Leanna Clark each went .500 on the night, while sophomore Bela Gonzalez earned a base hit to go 1-3. Bela, Alyssa, Leanna, and Abby were rampant on the basepaths, as they combined for 10 runs scored.
Bela took the mound to rack up 7 strikeouts with 1 walk; she surrendered just 4 hits, but with a rough 3-error inning from the Ranger defense, the Yellow Jackets were able to cross 4 runs in a single inning.
With this dominant conference win, the Rangers sit at 5-6 (5-3) on the season. The Rangers will next face a talented Hudsonville squad in a non-conference doubleheader at home on Monday.
