Varsity baseball mercies Lowell 15-1
Sophomore Joey Wise had a career night to lead the varsity baseball team to a 15-1 mercy over Lowell to take the conference series with the two-game advantage. Joey hit 1.000 at the plate with 2 base hits in addition to 2 RBIs and 1 run scored. On the defensive end, Joey threw a 2-hitter through five innings to record the win.
While Lowell was able to get on the board first, the Rangers had a monster 8-run second inning to slam the door on the Red Arrows early. With 6 more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, FHC secured the mercy headed into the fifth.
The Rangers outhit the Red Arrows 10-2, with Joey and senior Cole Coughlin each going 2-2 at the plate. Cole was also responsible for 2 runs with an RBI and run scored, while senior Joe Szczepanek hit .500 with a couple of base hits and earned a team-high 3 RBIs. The senior middle infield duo of Adam Tellier and Ethan Vredenberg each picked up a hit and combined for 5 RBIs and 5 runs scored.
With this big offensive win, the Rangers move to 11-9 (11-4) on the year and will have a long break before their next game. The boys will be back in action next Friday for a non-conference matchup with West Ottawa at home.
