Varsity softball splits double header with South Christian
Last night, the Lady Rangers faced off against South Christian. FHC came out in the first game with a bang but failed to have to the same amount of energy in the second game, and because of this, they went 1-1. They won the first game 19-6 but lost the second game 9-8.
Senior Emma Davis led the team in batting for the first game. She had 2 doubles, 1 triple, and the most amount of RBI’s on the team with 4. Senior Molly Donovan had 1 single but was walked 4 times, resulting in 3 RBI’s. Senior Tori MacLeod also had 3 RBI’s and 2 singles. Senior Val Nuffer had 1 single, 1 double, 2 walks, and 2 RBI’s. Senior Zoey Guikema went 1 for 3 and had 1 RBI. Sophomore Kylie Halverson had a single and 1 RBI, while junior Maizey Szczepanek had a triple and 1 RBI.
FHC just fell short in the fifth inning to tie South Christian. FHC was down four runs and came just short in defeating South Christian twice. Molly, Emma, and Val each had multiple hits for the Rangers. Emma went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and 3 RBI’s. Molly also went 2 for 4 with a single, a triple, and 1 RBI. Val went 2 for 4 with a single and a double, while Kylie was walked once. which led to her having 1 RBI.
Sophomore Faith Addington was behind the mound in the first game, allowing 4 hits and 2 runs. She struck out 2 and walked 0. Junior Caitlin Snyder threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen, allowing 1 hit and 2 runs; she struck out 1 and walked 0. Tori pitched for the Rangers in the second game. She allowed 16 hits and 9 runs while striking out 1 and walked 0.
These games don’t go towards the Rangers OK White Conference record, so their record remains 9-3, but it does affect their overall record, which is now 13-9. The Rangers face off against Wyoming tomorrow at home.
