Boys JV tennis team secures dominating win at home against Northview
More stories from Levi McKenzie
The boys JV tennis team took care of business against Northview this past Tuesday. Junior Leo Treash and sophomore Devin Holcomb started things off right beating two of Northview’s best players 6-0 in the first doubles match. Nich Walls won 6-1 then 6-4 in the only singles match of the meet with a very competitive fight.
After that, it was all Rangers with 4 straight doubles wins for FHC. In the second doubles match, junior Eli Romijn and freshman Ryan Waite started off with a 6-5 win but had to go to a tiebreaker at 5-5 and ended up winning 7-3. Freshman Noah Kriekard and Sophomore Noah Moore won a solid match 6-0, shutting out the opponent.
The Rangers secured the win but the rest of the team played their doubles lineups again. Sophomore Alex Schenck and sophomore Shalil Sawant played very well in one of the later matches and won 6-0. The Rangers only losses were against some of Northview’s best teams, so overall they came out and took care of business.
Their next match is next Wednesday, September 18 against a very good team in East Grand Rapids. Looking to keep their momentum from this last match, they are getting ready to go take on the Pioneers of East Grand Rapids.
