Boys JV tennis took down the Dutch of Holland last week in a convincing 5-4 win.
Holland only had six players, so the Rangers played three sets against them with three different sets of doubles partners. The first three sets went very well with the Rangers winning all three, 6-1, 6-2, and 6-1. All three of them were highly-competitive and intense matches.
The first doubles match of the day was sophomore Devin Holcomb and junior Leo Treash who won 6-1, with junior Eli Romijn and freshman Noah Kriekard backing that up with a 6-2 win of their own. Three doubles junior Sam Cooper and freshman Erik Hansen won 6-1, bringing the Rangers to a 3-0 lead through the first three matches. The Rangers lost the last three matches 6-1, 6-2, and 6-2, but head coach Mitchell Timyan knows there are things to improve upon.
“The last 3 matches we played did not go as well,” Timyan said. “We made great effort and played hard but lost all 3. We definitely have some things to work on in practice to improve.”
The Rangers look to grow on this win as they go on the road to take on the Lowell Red Arrows on Monday, September 23rd.
