Boys varsity tennis wins two flights in Regional finals and moves onto State Finals
The boys varsity tennis team played in the Regional finals and placed in second behind Forest Hills Northern, but they still ended up winning two flights.
Senior Nick Sjolin was the first winner for the Rangers at two singles. He clinched his spot with a very close match and will face some extreme competition next week when he plays in the State Finals. Senior Advith Reddy and junior Chris Battiste were the other two that qualified at two doubles, and they are getting ready to face more heavily talented competition.
One singles freshman Sammy Yin and four singles freshman Chris Shang lost in the finals to FHN and fell just short. Along with them, juniors Ben Koning and Nick Stockenauer played their hearts out, but they couldn’t finish the job against the Huskies.
The winners now move onto the State Finals in Ann Arbor on Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19.
