Freshman Peyton Price is doing it all for the FHC bowling team so far this season, as he bowled another high score last night with a 207. His outstanding performance, along with the play of many others, has earned the Rangers their first win of the season.
Coming into the season not having any varsity bowling experience, you would think it would be hard for Peyton to get into a rhythm, but he has proven that theory completely wrong. He has done everything the team has asked of him this season, and the team finally put it all together for a great win against Ottawa Hills.
A few other players who had very good performances were senior Alex Souza with a score of 199 and junior Thomas Payne with a score of 198. Since the beginning of the season, head coach Grant Vermeer has had high hopes for Alex after making a run in states last year. He has stepped up and took on the senior leadership role on this team.
In both of the two games, the Rangers blew out Ottawa Hills. They won the first game 780-654, which started them off in the right direction. After that, they capitalized on the second game, and once again won by a score of 882-577.
“We still need to do better in our Baker games, but overall we played well,” said Vermeer.
The bowling team will be off all of winter break, so they will have plenty of time to prepare for the next opponent: the Lowell Red Arrows
Winning that match would be huge for the team as it would bring the team’s record up to 2-2 on the season. Beating Lowell would be a confidence booster and may send them in the right direction for the rest of the season. Having a great season has been the team’s goal all along after a bit of a rough season last year.
The Rangers’ next match will be home on Wednesday, January 8.
