Varsity gymnastics continues to do well in past two meets
In the past few days, the Forest Hills gymnastics team has done well in its recent meets. The girls competed in the Kenowa Hills Invite on the 25th, and they then competed against Lowell on the 27th. The girls took second place with a score of 140.025 at the Kenowa Hills Invite and scored a 140.9 against Lowell.
At the Kenowa Hills Invite, the girls did very well and showed much progress since the beginning of the season. All of the girls competed well in most of their routines, although, at this meet, there were some struggles on the beam routine. FHC seniors Hannah Walters and Olivia Jeong and FHN junior Kylie McGinnis went all around this weekend and competed in every event. FHN senior Hannah Biesbrock, junior Hannah Chadwick, and sophomore Alyssa Wierenga filled in the remaining events at the meet. The girls had many personal bests on the floor and vault routines in this meet, allowing to achieve second place.
At the meet against Lowell, the girls beat the Red Arrows with a score of 140.9. At this meet, every girl achieved their season record on the bars, which helped to boost their score. The team also only had one fall on the beam that night, helping Forest Hills to keep their higher score. At this meet, FHC freshmen Lauren Wolffis and Megan Wilson achieved regional qualifying scores with Lauren on the bars and Megan on the vault and beam.
The next meet for the girls is on Saturday, February 1st at 10:00 AM at the Canton Invitational at Plymouth High School.
