13 out of the 14 players on the boys freshman team scored this past Thursday in a blowout 94-22 win over Greenville. One member of Greenville was out sick and did not get the opportunity to attend. This game starts up the second time around the conference for the Rangers and its a clear statement for the rest of the conference.

The boys started off strong when the center, Calvin Balanda, won the tipoff and continued to lay in the first basket. The Rangers applied a tough full-court man to man press on the Yellow Jackets, who had a very difficult time getting the ball up the floor. After the first quarter, the boys lead Greenville 34-4.

“We wanted to get out to a fast start, and we did. We wanted to get out and run the floor before they [Greenville] could set up its 2-3 zone,” Assistant coach Matt Ellis said.

Greenville came out in a 2-3 zone and stayed with it the entire game. Guards Arthur Pelon, Noah Burr and Sam Ardringer absolutely tore it up, feeding Nate Delaney and Calvin in the post.

“[Arthur, Noah, and Sam] are guys who play multiple positions and are asked to do multiple different things. They were given a great opportunity tonight and seemed to embrace, and make the most of it,” Ellis said.

The Rangers are now 2-0 against the Yellow Jackets. The boys are now 10-3 on the season, and 6-1 in conference play. Next up for the Rangers is Cedar Springs who the boys defeated 59-19 in the first meeting.
