Boys swim and dive beats Spring Lake 101-85
The boys swim and dive team had a great victory against a tough opponent in Spring Lake. This is yet another win in a string of tough matchups as the Rangers continue to prove themselves in their first season as an individual team. This brings them to the beggining of the end of the season, with the MISCA invitational being the next meet.
The meet began with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. Junior Josh Stevenson, sophomore Benji Zorn, junior Avery LeTourneau, and senior Dani Ahmetovic got second with their time of 1:44.35. Following this up was another second-place finish from senior CJ Hier with his time of 1:51.80. Behind him were senior Ben Rogala and Kyle Carter, who took third and fourth respectively. Freshmen Gavin Cai and Isaac Stewart took second and third in the 200-yard individual medley with their times of 2:14.31 and 2:17.95. Despite not getting first in these races, the Rangers scored well because they took almost every second and third place.
Turning this around, Avery took first in the 50-yard freestyle with his time of 22.35. Freshman Cole Hysong carried this on, taking first in the diving event with his time of 279.20, followed by sophomore Will Becker’s second place with 229.80. Avery got back at it after the diving event with his time of 51.52 in the 100-yard fly, which secured him second place followed by sophomore Francesco Roveri, who took third.
Ben won the 100-yard freestyle with his time of 50.93. Benji then took second in the 500-yard freestyle with his time of 5:23.31. The 200-yard freestyle relay was won by Spring Lake, but the A and B team for the Rangers took the second and third spots. Those teams consisted of CJ, Francesco, Gavin, and Ben on the A team and Kyle, senior Lawrence Simmons, sophomore Aden Pomeroy, and Benji on the B team.
Josh and Isaac took second and third in the 100-yard backstroke with their times of 1:00.31 and 1:04.92. CJ and Gavin then took first and second in the 100-yard breaststroke with their times of 1:05.20 and 1:07.66. Finally, the A and B relay teams took second and third in the 400-yard freestyle relay with their times of 3:38.30 and 3:41.82. These teams were made up of Avery, Kyle, Isaac, and Dani on the A and Ben, CJ, Josh, and Sam on the B.
This was a tough meet, and the Rangers were up to the challenge. Next meet, the Rangers who secured the times to qualify will go into the MISCA invitational meet. That meet will consist of some of the best swimmers in the area, so the Rangers will have to be at the top of their game.
