Nepotism babies aren’t always fan-favorites in Hollywood. Since nepotism babies have famous parents, it is sometimes assumed that they haven’t had to work as hard for roles and jobs. Sometimes people believe they aren’t even good at what positions they land, but they get it just because of their last name. Famous Nepotism babies include Hailey Bieber, the Kardashian-Jenners, Kaia Gerber, Maya Hawke, Zoë Kravitz, Lily-Rose Depp, and most notably in recent news, Sofia Richie Grainge. 

Prior to April 22, 2023, Grainge’s last name was Richie. Yes, that Richie, as in Lionel Richie. Grainge is the daughter of Richie and his ex-wife, fashion designer Diane Alexander. This famous family also includes Miles Richie and actress Nicole Richie. 

With all the famous members of this family, Sofia Richie Grainge has never necessarily been out of the spotlight. But in the last couple of weeks, her popularity has grown more.

Grainge’s wedding to music executive Elliot Grainge sparked much attention. The wedding occurred in the south of France and was a star-studded affair. Notable guests include Paris Hilton, Cameron Diaz, Princess Olympia of Greece, and TikToker Jake Shane (@octopusslover8).

Being the wedding of two nepotism babies, pictures and videos were everywhere. The bride had created her first TikTok mere days before the wedding and posted clips of the wedding itself. This publicity has brought Grainge to be called the new “it” girl in her TikTok comments, as well as her wedding being described as “my royal wedding” by multiple TikTok users. 

So, why is this wedding being compared to that of the royals? 

To start, Grainge wore three Chanel dresses—one for the rehearsal dinner, one for the wedding ceremony, and one for the reception. For the rehearsal dinner, Grainge wore a long-sleeve, ankle-length ensemble covered in beading and fringe. This dress was inspired by a dress worn by Stella Tennant on the autumn/winter 1997 Chanel couture catwalk. Next, Grainge walked down the aisle in a dress inspired by the Chanel spring/summer 2023 collection. It had a high, embellished neck and was covered in lace. This dress included Grainge’s “something blue” in the form of the couple’s initials and wedding date sewn into the inner lining. The final Chanel dress worn by Grainge was inspired by a Chanel dress worn by Claudia Schiffer on the catwalk in the 1990s. The mini dress features the classic Chanel camellia flower in the center.

The following reason that Grainge’s wedding is so loved is the song she walked down the aisle to. The song, “Until I Found You” by Stephen Sanchez, has been viral in TikTok and was featured in Netflix show Ginny & Georgia. In the song, Sanchez sings to a woman named “Georgia,” but at Grainge’s wedding, it was changed to “Sofia.” Yes, that’s right, Stephen Sanchez sang as Grainge was walking down the aisle. The best part of this is that Grainge didn’t know it was going to happen. It was a wedding-day surprise from her now husband. 

Of course, any star-studded wedding in the south of France would make its way into many people’s dreams. However, these small added details add more fuel. 

While Grainge’s wedding may just be that of two nepotism babies to some, it was truly a magical event.
