Varsity volleyball goes 1-3 at Grand Rapids Christian tournament
This past Saturday, varsity volleyball had an incredibly hot tournament at Grand Rapids Christian. With very tough teams in the tournament, the ladies only got one win, leaving with a 1-3 record.
Coming into the tournament, head coach Colleen Shields said they were going to see some very tough competition, and they did. The first match of the day was against Fruitport. The Rangers were able to win in 3 games; winning the first 25-19, losing the second 25-10, and winning the third and final game 15-10. In match two against Lakewood, unfortunately, the team was not able to win any games against them, losing 25-12 and 25-7.
The third and hardest match of the day was against Rockford, the number 1 ranked class A team in the state. Despite the harder competition, the team did well against them, but still lost in two; 25-17 for the first game and 25-18 for the second. Portage Central was the last match of the day where they, likewise to Rockford, they lost in two. While the first game was close at 25-23, the second was a much bigger scoring margin at 25-9.
